Located on the Northern slope side of Sintra hill and overlooking the Atlantic, rise the Western vineyards of Europe.
Casal Sta. Maria is located in the historic wine region of Colares, 2 km‘s from Cabo da Roca − the most Western point in continental Europe.
The vines were planted in 2006 by Baron Bodo Von Bruemmer, at the time aged 96 years old, to produce great quality wines that convey the unique terroir of this estate, which was his passion, respecting the environment and dignifying the region.
The climate is markedly Mediterranean of the oceanic sub-type due to the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, with mild temperatures, fogs, and damp north winds.
Our terroir allows us to produce very elegant and balanced wines, very mineral, extremely fresh and with low alcohol content. Complex and full of character, with great ageing potential, they are an expression of this unique terroir.
