Etude, which in French means “study,” is the vision of founder Tony Soter.

His interest was to make wines that would satisfy discerning consumers of California wine while deepening his understanding of the winemaker’s craft and the creative process.

Today, winemaker Jon Priest strongly believes and lives out Etude’s founding philosophy. This has allowed for the continual cultivation of the highest quality wines, reflective of the profound influences of the land and the season, as well as the hand of its steward; hence, the concept of winegrowing.

Etude specializes in a selection of white and two classic red varietals—Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Though modeled on the best from Burgundy and Bordeaux, these wines speak clearly of their contemporary California origins, combining rich, ripe fruit with an elegant structure and opulent mouthfeel.
